Liposuction

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that is performed to remove fat from local fat deposits on a body that does not respond to diet or exercise.

Liposuction removes fat cells and the number decreases locally and they are not recreated, which results in permanently provided weight stability. It is easy to get fixed at volumes and the amount of fat that is sucked out, but for the result, it is very important that it remains a thin layer of fat so that the results will be even to look natural and to avoid future inconveniences.
Liposuction with Laser Assistance (Smartlipo) was first launched by Estetikum via doctor Vilyam Melki in 2005. The clinic is located in the town of Sollentuna, only 15 minutes from Stockholm with car, where Dr Vilyam Melki also works as Head of Department at the Academic Hospital. We are regarded as a reference clinic for liposuction under local anesthesia in Sweden and now offer all liposuction methods available on the market.
We can proudly say that we have the largest number of operations in the Nordic region in laser-assisted liposuction (Smartlipo). According to us, laser-assisted liposuction (Smartlipo) is an excellent option in the liposuction / body-forming surgery market. The first clinic in the area of liposuction in Sweden

Estetikum introduced Smartlipo, laser assisted liposuction, as the first clinic in Sweden already in 2005 in Stockholm. The founder of Estetikum is doctor Vilyam Melki and is still operating. Dr Vilyam Melki has carried over 4,000 liposuctions over more than 20 years and is the further educator of other laser and aesthetics surgeons. Our main base is located in Sollentuna (Stockholm) and consultations are also offered online. However, our catchment area is significantly greater than today, and most of the patients is from outside Uppsala, mainly from Stockholm, Västerås, Gävle, Enköping, Sundsvall, Umeå, Luleå and even from southern cities like Malmö and Göteborg.

Estetikum offers the following liposuction methods

Laser Assisted Liposuction (Smartlipo)

Laser-assisted liposuction (Smartlipo) is used to use the thin probe that delivers laser light carefully and limited to soften the fatty tissue, which allows for unpleasant liposuction in local anesthesia. The softening laser treatment is then combined with MicroaAire Liposuction (PAL) for better results. In total, this causes the patient to become less blue and swollen after surgery, experiencing faster recovery and a more even result with less skin surplus. Estetikum were the first clinic in Sweden to introduce Smartlipo and have since further developed the technology.

Traditional liposuction

Going just as the name suggests sucking fat and for help, the surgeon has narrow holes with holes in which are connected to a pump. Via a back and forth movement of the surgeon, the fat is introduced through the holes in the needle and further to a container connected to a pump. Before the liposuction begins, a liquid is injected into the area containing, inter alia, anesthetics and adrenaline, which allows liposuction without anesthesia with reduced bleeding.

BodyTite (radio frequency liposuction)

BodyTite is a relatively new technique for liposuction in Sweden. It is a further development of liposuction with added energy. The energy in the form of radio waves emitted from the liposuction cannula is constantly monitored and controlled via an electrode located on the skin surface. The energy from the radio waves melts the fat, burns smaller vessels and stimulates the skin to contract. At the same time, the needle is not as flexible as the laser probe that Smartlipo uses, so Smartlipo may be preferred in some areas.

Body jet (water-assisted liposuction)

This liposuction technique is also relatively new in the market and is used for body sculpting and fat transplantation. Here the surgeon uses a cannula that ejects a sun-spring beam with salt and anesthetic solution that loosens the fat and sucks the fat into holes located on the cannula’s sides. Unlike laser or radio frequency liposuction, the fat is spared with Body jet and the fat can then be transplanted to other areas of the body e.g. breasts.

MicroAire (power assisted liposuction)

MicroAire is a machine that connects to the liposuction cannula, causing the needle to vibrate, the fat dissolves more easily with less tissue damage and greater precision. The method can be combined with laser-assisted liposuction (Smartlipo) and BodyTite to quickly and efficiently extract the fat.

Skintightening

In conjunction with liposuction, sometimes a so-called skintightening is used to tighten the skin even more after liposuction. This is done by passing a narrow probe, which emits laser light, into the current area and supplies energy. This energy supply causes the fat to melt, less vessels burn and the tissue is stimulated. We have seen both from our own treatments and international studies that this method plays a crucial role in the end result.

Additional treatments

Massage of the operating area associated with liposuction (regardless of method) is also important and the best technique is LPG Endermologie. LPG increases the blood flow of the tissue and reduces the risk of deep scarring and speeds up the healing. We recommend 4-8 treatments starting two to eight weeks after liposuction.

Common liposuction areas?

One of the most common areas is liposuction of the stomach. The rate of liposuction of the entire stomach is between 30-50 000 SEK and is determined after consultation with the surgeon. Generally, the price for liposuction is determined by fat amount and skin quality. Other common areas are liposuction of the chin, back, thigh, arms and waist (love handle).

Liposuction of the stomach

One of the most common and actually most grateful areas of liposuction is just stomach. The stomach is difficult to lose weight or to work away in many cases and especially under the part (under the navel) of the stomach is difficult to work. Here liposuction is well suited. You can usually extract considerable amounts of fat while at the same time work effectively with skintightening to get a fine tightening of the skin after liposuction of the stomach. How much volumes you can get away vary, of course, and is something you discuss in advance with the surgeon.

Liposuction of the waist

Liposuction of the waistline is a very common area, in which women sometimes feel dissatisfied with their high hips and lack of a clear waist. This area is also called the love handles or the stomachs and the area is very grateful to obesity as you can quickly see clear differences.

Liposuction of the back

The back is an area that binds a lot of fat over the years. Especially in the lower parts of the back. Liposuction of the back and up shoulders is common, especially among people over 40 years.

Liposuction of chin

A very common area, with great variations in the ages. Liposuction of the chin goes fast and is effective, especially with Smartlipo technology, where the operation is performed under local anesthesia and where the operation is less than 1 hour. Results can be seen in principle immediately and especially after 1-2 weeks when the swelling subsided.

Result after liposuction

Final results are usually seen after 6 months, but can last up to 12 months. But in 90 percent of cases, results are seen much faster, even after a few weeks in many cases. This is very individual and depends on the body’s healing ability, the degree of swelling, etc. Below you can see some before and after pictures.
